The main idea of the conference was that promoting the well-being of students and teachers is one of the ideal forms of preventing undesirable behaviour and at the same time supporting the resilience of the university community. This fact is confirmed by current research in foreign and domestic workplaces within the framework of the so-called evidence-based approach. The AVŠP Working Group on Wellbeing, which is mainly concerned with monitoring the mental health of students at universities and sharing examples of good practice in mental health promotion activities, also presented its results.
The conference programme also included the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between AVŠP and ŠOP. It officially confirmed the existing cooperation and at the same time set the direction for the future: the cooperation reflects the fact that ombudsmen and advisory services are often closely related in their practice. At the same time, we would like to jointly promote greater attention to social security issues by our academic institutions. The memorandum can be viewed below.
The COP membership also participated in the programme on the basis of the developed cooperation: vice-chair Pavlína Junová (FAMU) took part in a panel discussion that focused on aspects of promoting the topic of well-being in the agenda and practice of universities. Lucie Tesařová and Hana Galiová (both UJEP) conducted a workshop entitled How to better understand the needs of your clients? Can you empathize with them? Adéla Klimková and Petr Šimon presented the safety net they are creating at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.
